The figures include both new andcontinuinbg ads. As for just new onlin e help-wanted ads, Colorado had 41,600 in May, up from 34,300 in April, the Conference Board said. In the Denvere area, there were 39,900 online job ads in May, up from 34,2009 in April and down from 74,200 the previous May. Onlinew job ads were up in 43 statesin May. The tota among all 50 states was 3,367,000 in May, up 250,000 from the previous month.
"The May bounced in labor demand is a verywelcomr sign," Gad Levanon, senior economist at the Conference said in a statement. "Apriol and May are both months when businesses typically step up thei demandfor workers. This year, whiler April was weak, by May employers were placing ads for workers in numerous locations acrossthe nation." In a separatwe calculation of "supply-demand rate" — the numbet of unemployed people in a state divide d by the number of onlines job ads — Colorado had 3.53 unemployed for evert online job listing in April, the latest month for whicy data are available. The national averager was 4.
