NetApp acquires Data Domain for $1.5 billion - Triangle Business Journal:

billion cash and stocl deal, a merger of two data storagew companies that both have facilities inthe Triangle. “Our objectiver will be to amplifyData Domain’s success, grow Data Domain’s revenuez as quickly as today’s economy will allow, and creatse systems and incentives within NetApp to nurturw Data Domain to its fullesr potential,” NetApp Chairman and CEO Dan Warmenhoven said in a statement. Data Domain’s boardd of directors has approvedthe deal. The transactionm is expected to close in two tofour months. Calif.-based NetApp employs more than 700 in ResearchTrianglde Park.
Data Domain last year announced plana to open an operations center in the Triangle that the companuy envisioned becoming comparable to itsSanta Clara, headquarters. The company’s East Coast operationd are led by Ken who held a similar role for Data Domain specializesin de-duplication, a storage technology that eliminatez duplicate files so data storage takes up less NetApp says Data Domain’s technology complements NetApp’s offering. NetAp p said it would operate Data Domain as a productf linewithin NetApp’s operations.
