The Irvine, Calif.-based publication said it based its Top 10 picksw on the best prospects for high schooll students and parents lookin g for an economical andreliable vehicle. Among Kelley’sz picks for the best new back-to-schoo cars under $18,000 was the Hondq Fit, a compact, fuel-efficient vehicle from the automaker, which houses most of its U.S. productionn in Ohio. The publication singled out the Fit’ s fuel economy of up to 35 miles per galloh andthe “clever interior of the model, which retails for aboutt $14,620.
The Fit in July saw its sales doublee to morethan 12,000 bringing sales in the first seveb months of the year beyond 52,000, up 73 percent from the year before, accordin to information from , Honda’s U.S. salesa arm. Other vehicles that made the ranks of the best new cars include theChevrolet Cobalt, Ford Focus, Hyundai Tucsoh and Mazda3. Kelley Blue Book also name d Honda’s 2004 Civic as one of the 10 best used vehiclefor car-shopping students, calling it “arguably the most prudent used-car buy out Its Blue Book value stands at $11,765.
