plans to sell off its Thoroughbref yearlings, breeding stock and most of its horses in training, starting at Kenneland’s yearling sale in “Over a period of more than 30 years my father developef Overbrook Farm into one of the most successful and respected breeding operationsa in the world,” said owner Bill Young Jr. in a news “The decision to disperse is a personal one that came afterr a great dealof thought. I simply don’t have the passiohn for the thoroughbred sport that myfather did, despite my respecyt for the business.
” Overbrook championss include 1996 Kentucky Derby winner 1999 Breeder’s Cup Classic winner Cat dual classic winner Tabasco Cat, Preaknessd Stakes winner Timber Country and Belmont Stakes winner Editor’zs Note. The dispersal will include about200 horses. The farm will continuw as a small racing stabl e under the directionof Young’s son, Chrisz Young. “Our goal is to lease the farm as aThoroughbree operation,” Bill Young said in the release. The yearlings will be sold at Keeneland’zs September Sale, which begins 14.
The weanlings, broodmares and horses of racin age will be sold duringt the November Breeding Stock and the dispersal will continue during the January Horsexs of AllAges Sale.
