Grant money will help WESST teach kids to save - Business First of Buffalo:

The youth Individual DevelopmentAccount (IDA) program provides financial literacy education and a method for buildinvg assets to high school students that meet incomer qualifications. The program will span a three-year period between 2009 and 2012. which are used by a number of organizationes inNew Mexico, encourage participantss to save for a goal or asset and usuallt match the participant’s savings as an incentive.
The matchg in the WESST program is fourto one, up to is the nonprofit’s bank partner in the WESST is working on this pilot program with Juniodr Achievement of New Mexico and the Creativr Education Preparatory Institute, a public charter high schookl on Albuquerque’s Westside. There are 21 students participatinyg in theprogram now, and the Danielss grant will allow WESSgT to add an additional 13 said Marty Tatum, spokeswoman for The grant will also be used to leverag e matching federal dollars and enroll more high school student , based in Denver, operate the Daniels Fund Scholarship Program and the Daniel s Fund Grants program in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and The Fund was established in 1997 by cable televisionm pioneer Bill Daniels, a former resident of helps low-income women, minorities and othefr entrepreneurs achieve self-sufficiency through microenterprise training, technicapl assistance and access to capital througnh its revolving loan fund.
